My Favorite BookTubers

Throughout the past two months I’ve mentioned BookTube here and there because I love it so much. In case you haven’t caught on, BookTube is a YouTube community of people who share a love of one thing: BOOKS.

Full of lovely, passionate people, I’ve found BookTube to be an essential part of my reading life. Not only am I updated on the latest releases and listening to reviews on books I’d never hear of otherwise, but it’s challenged me to read diversely and read more.

Though I haven’t been familiar with the community for very long, today I thought I’d share my top five favorite BookTubers.

(Apologies for not being able to upload the videos directly;  after writing this post and getting it ready for publication, I discovered my WordPress plan doesn’t support video files. Click the pictures to be directed to their channels!)

Regan from PeruseProject was the first BookTuber I discovered, and I don’t think you could start with anyone better. Hilarious, quirky, and energetic, she’ll convince you to read the books you’d never choose yourself. Her content includes book reviews, book hauls, unboxings, and a wide range of book favorites lists (she reads a lot of YA fiction and fantasy, so of course I love her).

 · Mollie Reads ·

Mollie Reads might be the sweetest BookTuber out there. I just love her personality, opinions, and honest talks about life. About three months ago she posted that she had quit her day job to become a full-time freelance book editor and is currently working towards a certification in editing. If editing is something that interests you, you might want to check out her Editor Talk playlist.

I’ll be honest, her accent might play a role in my love for this channel, but I find Little Book Owl’s content a lot of fun. She takes part in read-a-thons, monthly subscription box unboxings, and posts tons of book hauls (if any of you follow me on Twitter or Instagram, you’ll know I understand her struggle).

· Connor O’Brien ·

BookTube is dominated by female Youtubers, but Connor O’Brien is fantastic. He gives straight forward opinions on his channel that is primarily comprised of book reviews, wrap ups, and hauls. It doesn’t hurt that he’s a huge dog lover and owner of a husky named Nanook. (As a bonus, he uploads BarkBox unboxing videos with his dog, and they are the greatest thing ever.)

Despite struggling with anxiety and depression, which she just opened up about in her latest video, Zoe lights up BookTube with her cheerful and exuberant personality; she makes me laugh, and she’ll get you excited about reading. We don’t always share the same bookish opinions, but I love her attitude towards books. She also hosts a book club on Goodreads called the Austentatious Book Club; she began it to read through Jane Austen’s works, but the reads will be branching out into other classics.

While I love these channels, for the most part they revolve around the same genres of books, so let this get you started and then search for BookTubers who fall in line with your own kind of reading. Happy BookTuber Hunting! (Please don’t take that literally.)

  1. What a great idea! I had no idea that there was a Youtube world for book lovers. I will have to check it out. And your last sentence just cracked me up.
